Eastern Paradise Review - May 2011
After sampling a beer or three in the friendly North Western Pub, 11 of us - 10 members
and guest "Rick the American", moved on to the Eastern Paradise in Church Street.
We were welcomed in by courteous and professional staff and were pleased to see the
restaurant was busy - always a good sign.
The "obligatory" beers, poppadoms and dips were very good, with fresh 'poppies',
and a lot of compliments on the variety and quality of the dips.
I was not disappointed with my standard starter - Rashmir Kebab. It was almost a
meal in itself, very big and above average taste too! Three members had a prawn puree
and all agreed it was very good. We did have a bit of a wait before the mains arrived,
but then again we were a large party.
I had the lamb Tawa gosht; a lovely "deep" taste and made with really fresh ingredients
and herbs, although in common with some other lamb dishes, the lamb was a little
chewy, but not so tough to ruin a very nice dish.
The vegetable side dishes also proved very tasty, in particular the niramish, dall
and bindhi bhaji.
Summary - Over all, the Eastern scored well for food, but very good for the service.
"The American" was especially impressed by the attentive staff and really impressed
when we were presented with a free lamb chop dish to trial - outstanding!
