Jaipur Review - February 2007

Summary

So here we are for the 3rd time, almost 3 years to the day since our last visit.

Overall we rate it 19.0 Taj Mahals which is exactly the same score as before!

However, when looking at the individual factors that make up the overall score a couple of common themes are apparent from our visit this time:
- Jaipur is not a cheap restaurant and you know that before you arrive. BUT they really are significantly higher than the local competition
- On the evening we visited the gents toilets were a disgrace to any restaurant, let alone the Jaipur. OK, one urinal out of action is not necessarily a problem but the state of the floor was a disgrace. More worrying was nothing was done to address this once we pointed this out to the waiters

The above comments are disappointing because the location, venue and food is generally very good. The menu is a little unusual although perhaps some people might think this too avant garde for their tastes but it does make for an interesting meal.

It should be noted some of the lamb was rather tough although the quality did seem to vary, even within the same dish.

So once again Jaipur have failed to live up to our expectations on a number of fronts and have failed to gain a certificate from the MKCC. Bit of a shame for Jaipur as a clean toilet or an attempt to clean the toilet on the evening would probably have pushed up their score to 20.
