Jalori - September 2008

Summary

Our first meeting for a while, after the summer break, found us at the Jalori in Woburn Sands, just outside of MK.

Into the Swan opposite first, a very crowded pub tonight, recently re-furbished and a decent place for a drink. Somewhere to park the car, as parking in Woburn Sands is limited. The Jalori advertises free parking on its web site, but not sure where this is?

We were seated in an annexe just off of the main restaurant, always a good thing when you are a large party, although, there were thirteen of us which was too many for the table, in an area which meant we were a little cramped, and it got a little too hot at first, until the air conditioning was turned on. Nice to have a round (pear shaped in this case) table. This along with the private area gave us the illusion of a “gentleman’s club”.

The menu is comprehensive and the dishes clearly marked with their respective number of ‘chillis’ to identify easily how spicy they are. There was a very large notice (certificate) stuck to the inside cover, from the MK Council, indicating the restaurant had received a “Food Hygiene Rating”, clearly something they are proud to advertise.

Generally speaking, this is a very nice restaurant and many of us said that we would return. Its pretty good value for money as the common curry table shows. Having said this, it’s perhaps a little surprising that the overall score came out a little low at 18.9.
