Ladies Night

December 2010 - Calcutta Brasserie

Curry Club Ladies Night 2010 was planned for a night in December but due to very heavy snow it had to be cancelled. The Calcutta Brasserie was more than helpful and simply changed the date to 15th January 2011 and still served us the Christmas Menu.

Dress code for the evening was black tie and best dresses and we all looked lovely. Those who were keen on an early start to the evening met up in the Cock Hotel in the High Street and enjoyed drinks in the bar. We then had a short walk to the restaurant where we were all shown to our tables, in an area especially set aside for our group.

The food served was excellent; we started with poppadoms with a good selection of sauces followed by a mixed plate of starters including kebab, pakora, tikka and prawns.

The selection of main courses included saffron rice, chicken jalfrezi, mutton mappas and vegetable dhansak, they were all very tasty and there was plenty of it. We also managed to sample a good selection of wines and beers from the bar menu.

The service was very friendly and was just the right mix between giving good attention and keeping a discreet distance. They let us set up some music and there was enough room for a bit of dancing after we’d finished eating. A good time was had by all and well done to the committee for making the change in Christmas venue and choosing wisely.
