Rose of India Review -
Summary
The RoI holds a rather special place in the hearts of the MKCC as we discovered this little gem quite early on the life of the club. In addition to many official meetings the RoI has also hosted all Christmas parties to date and many other unofficial curries in between.
So down to business!
Well the revamped George Inn on the Buckingham Road was our meeting point. I still can't quite make out whether it's aiming to be a pub or a wine bar?
The final reckoning for the Rose of India is shown in the reviews table. Overall we rate it a well deserved 24.5 Taj Mahals. This is the same score as our previous visit and this remains the highest score ever received in 5 years of reviews.
Overall the food was fantastic with a particular note to the succulent lamb used in the main signature dishes. Firm favorites here are the Lamb Methi Madras and of course the Lamb Dhansak. But not to forget the fab side dishes, nans and poppodoms.
On a slightly negative note some of the starters were disappointing and did not seem authentic. Service although attentive throughout the night was scored down half a point overall due to the extended wait between starters and mains.
But what a meal and at a great price. The costs indicate this is right down in the lower quartile.
If you want to save even more give them a call and come along on a banquet evening (Mon and Thurs I think) where you can have any starter, main, side, bread and rice for £8.95. Absolute bargain and I guarantee you will have food to take home for another meal the next day. Or like Dave, for breakfast cold. Yummy!
