Rose of India Review - May 2008
Summary
Originally scheduled to visit the Buckingham Fort, this was considered too much of
a trek and the committee voted in favour of returning to their favourite place. Not
a bad idea as some of the newer members had not been to ‘The Rose’ and they were
really interested to find out what all the fuss was about. As transpired, they were
not to be disappointed.
So what is it about the Rose ? Its a very small restaurant, ordinary decor, not the
best location, service is not the fastest. Its because of the food and the value
for money, arguably the two main things that supercede any of the other scoring criteria.
Time and time again the Rose produces consistent high quality, and quantity, at one
of the best prices around.
The menu is extensive and explanatory and now, on the back, makes note of the fact
that it is highly rated by the MK Curry Club.
It retains its number one spot and a selection of the superlatives are given below.

Other Comments
Positive:
- Lamb Balti outstanding - hot but not too hot
- An unbeatable Aloo Chat
- Superb Lamb Methi
- Top marks for the lime pickle and spicy poppodums
- Great Mushroom rice
- Prawn Puree very tasty
- As expected, the staff are very attentive
Negative:
- You cannot change the size of the place easily, or where its located, but these will
always restrict the Rose from moving forward and attracting a wider customer base.
